Clinical Standards & Expectations

  •  No absences are allowed - Students MUST notify their instructor in case of any absence due to illness PRIOR TO the experience. If because of illness, a clinical experience is missed, arrangements for a make-up experience must be made. A physician's note is required.
  • Complete uniform with picture ID tag are to be worn at all times during the clinical experience.
  • A stethoscope, watch with second hand, scissors, pen and small note pad are needed for clinical experiences.
  • Current CPR certification is mandatory
  • Students who come to clinical setting unprepared will be sent home and will be required to make an appointment with the Instructor before the experience can be made up. Such an event will impact on the final grade.
     

  • Midterm written evaluations will be prepared by the instructor and reviewed with the student to appraise performance.
  • Evidence of prepardness through the scope and caliber of outside readings must be shown. Participation in and completion of clinical assignments and exercises is required.  
  • A Pass/Fail grade will be given. Evaluation of clinical performace is based on the student's ability to meet the clinical objectives and demonstrate the "Standards of Professional Behavior." This criteria will be distributed in class prior to the first clinical experience.
